La moda di Northland

The fashion of Northland, from Italy.

I like the bottom right, but I figure if I wear something like that around here, in the suburbs, people will stare and look at me funny. o_O

Counting down to thanksgiving

I have much to be thankful for this past year. Don't we all?
The good always outweighs the negative and many times, the negatives become positives (hopefully sooner than later)

In the spirit of thanksgiving, I am going to dedicate each day this week to one thing I am thankful for. Yay. I know this is very cliche, but I'm going to do it anyway, my way. ha.

Monday: i am thankful for.......HEAT (& warmth)- the kind where you feel giddy and fuzzy inside.

* HOT showers--- that last for at least 20 minutes after a long day of work. Sometimes I just soak myself in HOTNESS until I get all wrinkly and the whole b-room is misty. Ahh, feels good.
* HOT car seats--- I leave around 4AM everyday, and when the weather for that day is 60degrees sunny, it stills means it's 40degrees dark-cloudy-cold in the wee mornings. I love how I can toast my butt in my car seat warmer.
* HOT bed--- meaning, fleece blankets and plush pillows. I can just sink in and drea...ZzzzZzzz
* HOT men---  hehe, just kidding...

Falling leaves, falling prices

Fall time is in full gear now with brisk weather, yellow-orange-red leaves, and thanksgiving just around the corner.

The economy is somewhat better, and consumer spending increased (just a tad) since last year during this time. Nevertheless, we are still wary of our spending and on-sale items never looked so good.

Check out these on-sale finds from Nordstrom!
Gotta love the warm colors...

ps. free shipping on orders over $100 with promo code: HOLIDAY09

Gratitude for the next season

Apparently the recession has ended.

But we still have a long...long..way to fully recover.
With about 5million jobs lost since the recession, (January 2009 alone suffered a 65,000+ loss of jobs..!), people have been spending less and foreclosures sprouted in neighborhoods left and right...
The economy has fallen down to the pits, and now the only direction to go is uP!
And if you have a job today, be THANKFUL.
It's always sad to hear about good, hardworking people getting cut.
The leaves may fall, but don't let your hopes go down, too.

Life moves fast---- get a nice jacket.

In the past month or so, I've been in some sort of a whirlwind--making "adult" decisions in many areas of my life, and going through so much anguish (ie. no appetite, head aches) with not knowing what my near future holds for me.

The point I want to make today is that... life moves fast-- you never know what the future can bring; never give up and do your best in whatever you do. There is a lot of uncertainty of what tomorrow will bring, but one thing is for sure: there is HOPE in the future.

With that said, MD weather has been in a bit of a whirlwind itself- last week we endured the chilly weather of low 40's and rain, but this past week has been cool with highs being in 77 degrees just yesterday!

I want a nice, simple, light, warm winter jacket that I could wear casually and with dressier that too much to ask? I am currently eyeing this Marc New York asymmetrical jacket...

Speaking of change... I'm pretty sure this wasn't popular like two years ago, but it is now: open-toed boots? I mean, there are a lot of "cute" pairs out there...but really? Aren't they a bit paradoxical considering boots are meant to keep your feet/toes warm in the cold winters? All in the name of fashion and looking pretty? Okay, fine.

But I want to ask, if you have a pair of these open-toed boots, are your toes okay? Especially the first three toes who are nakedly exposed to the world. Do you wear stockings with them? Please enlighten me. Maybe I too, will do something all in the name of fashion and looking pretty...

Good day, everyone!

If you are feeling down or just plain dirty.... go check out a Korean SAUNA in a city nearest you.

You'll get scrubbed, rubbed, beat, pulled, yanked and a bit violated all in the name of getting clean!!

Be no fool.

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose.”
Jim Elliot

What can you give?

I am not falling in love, but these songs capture that act.

I lost my IPOD...or I cannot find it... -_- Should I get the new IPOD nano/video?
But if I did, I would have my headphones on in the metro/walk to work with these songs playing...

Dressing for Success-ing

Going back to the corporate world tomorrow....! Excited to work in D.C., but not too excited about wearing more "serious," work clothing. (Yeah, totally not shallow.) THUS, I am looking for some inspiration to look like the business-type (working in marketing), yet be hip, fashionable and cool. yeah-
What? I'm already hip, fashionable and cool? Aww, jeez, thanks... ha ha.

C'mon j-crew! Hit me up with that inspiration!

I see lots of ruffles and chunky jewelery...Hm, okay. Thank you, J-Crew wear-to-work clothing.

**Currently listening to: "I Keep Falling" by Lovers and Poets
"With a simple smile, you said 'hello.' That feeling burned into my soul; I knew I could not let you go. I keep falling...for you."

Sappy? YEAH! :)

3.1 Phillip Lim's new flagship store

3.1 Phillip Lim's new flagship store in Seoul, Korea...(opening Oct. 2009)!

{photo by Nacho Alegre}

It will be located in Cheongdam-dong-- the "Fashion of Art Street"-- the central location of all the hip, savvy venues and high-end fashion brands. The store is designed by Leong Leong Architecture .
I wonder if the Koreans are extra excited for this because Phillip Lim is coming to his motherland!

Pass me a bottle of that water

Oh, hello you

Let's get cozy, shall we?

We'll feel homey with these Anthropologie sweaters and vests...

And feel warm and fuzzy inside, drinking hot vanilla lattes out of these...

(reform school: flavour design bowls)

as we write sweet, sweet messages to lover(s) on these cute pink elephant notecards from Red Cap Cards.

And then we'll watch Johnny Depp and Juliette Binoche eat chocolate and fall in Chocolat.

This will, in turn, make us want to eat chocolate. So then we'll make and eat our own truffles and sleep happy...!
